Poniżej krótka informacja na temat prof. A. Pastore:
Prof. A. Pastore works on the molecular basis of neurodegeneration.
She looks at diseases caused by protein aggregation, including Huntington’s disease and Machado-Joseph disease.
She also studies pathologies that are a result of misfunctioning of the iron metabolism, including Friedreich’s ataxia.
She is interested the structure and function of these diseases and uses a range of characterisation techniques, including AFM, EM and ITC calorimetry.
A. Pastore is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization, Academia Europaea and Academia Net.
In 2018 Pastore was the first woman to be appointed professor at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa.
