Experimental and Translational Immunology group (DGO lab, www.dgo.ug.edu.pl) seeks to recruit a talented and passionate individual to work on a COVID-19 project carried out in collaboration with the Malopolska Centre for Biotechnology and University of Oxford.
Project description:
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a pathogen rapidly spreading worldwide causing a coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19). Since its transmission into our species only happened recently, the population worldwide is susceptible because of the lack of the so-called “herd immunity” that would restrict the spread of the infection. Numerous research groups are currently in the race to generate a vaccine that would provide protection; however much remains unknown about the virus and its interaction with the host. The project supported by the Foundation for Polish Science aims at generating a novel tool to stimulate virus-specific immune response to enhance elimination of infected cells. This is a collaborative research study carried out with the nanoengineering experts from the Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology.
Please note that this project does not involve working with the virus or samples from patients with active disease.
